Why Bhagavatha Dharma?
The path we show in Gopa Kuteeram is Bhagavatha Dharma because this is a simple and easy path that can be practiced by all, including young children and adults, in this day and age. It can be easily integrated into our lifestyle. It’s primary pillars are Nama kirtanam (singing/chanting the Divine Names) and Katha shravanam(listening to ‘His’ Stories).
Also, we approach Bhagavatha Dharma using the science of ‘AND’. We use logic to understand why things are done a certain way. For example, why do we light a diya, why do we do pradakshina, why we worship, etc. We also show them that within this framework of Bhagavatha Dharma, there are also aspects like aesthetics, love, joy, etc. The joy of listening to ashtapadi, enjoying the music, the rhythm, etc. It is important to balance both logic and aesthetics. Logic encourages the use of rationality/intelligence whereas enjoying the aesthetic aspect involves observing and appreciating the beauty in things. The balance of both is what makes us human. And this is what we try to teach in Gopa Kuteeram as well.
